Cratloe defeat Magpies in Round 4.
Cratloe's progress through the Clare Cup received another boost on Friday evening last with a victory on home soil against Clarecastle.
1-8 over the hours hurling from left half forward Damian Browne prooved instrumental in Cratloe's win. Brownes goal from the penalty spot midway through the opening half settled the home side who up to then had being playing second fiddle to the Magpies with John Casey unerring from frees.
Cratloe trailed at the interval by 0-13 to 1-7 but upped their performance considerably in the second period, inspired in the main by John O Gorman at wing back, Oige Murphy in midfield and Alan Murphy at centre half forward.
Entering the final quarter Cratloe had managed to pull themselves back into the reckoning and with the aid of the breeze scored late points from Sean Chaplin and Oige Murphy to finish the stronger.
We now lie second in the Clare Cup table and will vie for top spot with Newmarket next Saturday night when they bring their 100% record to O Hehir Park. From then the serious business of Championship with take priority with Cratloes first round clash against Tubber in the second week of June approaching.
