Easter Weekend Fixtures
Cratloe will have the opportunity to atone for their poor start to this year's Clare Cup Campaign when they face Crusheen at home in Round Two this Bank Holiday Monday. The sides have developed a keen rivalry in Division One in the past five seasons with two wins and a draw apiece.
After an opening day defeat and a lethargic performance against newly promoted Whitegate last weekend Cratloe will not want to be dragged to the wrong end of the table so soon in the league. The same can be said for their opponents who were comprehensively beaten by Newmarket on Fergus in their opening round tie.
Both sides however have a large contingent involved in the Clare Senior Panel and, injury permitting, should welcome back these players as they will have already played Westmeath on Saturday. Cratloe's only current concern is last seasons captain and full back Barry Duggan who has knee ligament trouble.
Throw in on Monday is at 4pm and the game will be refereed by Newmarket's Seanie McMahon.
Opening Round Division One Results;
Whitegate 2-11 v 2-10 Cratloe
Clonlara 2-10 v 0-14 Tulla
Clarecastle 1-12 v 1-12 Sixmilebridge
Newmaarket on Fergus 3-16 v 2-7 Crusheen
Clooney/Quin 1-20 v 0-13 Inagh/Kilnamona
The Senior Footballers and Junior Hurlers are also in action in what is a busy Easter Weekend for the club. In Division 2 of the Senior League, Cratloe will take on St. Josephs at 12 noon. This game is also scheduled for Pairc Ui Hethir and will be refereed by Johnny Brew. The Junior Hurlers will be looking to build on their opening round victory in Clooney and will be the first in Action this weekend when they take on Inagh-Kilnamona, also at home, at 4pm on Saturday.
Best of Luck to all teams.
